How much does an MVP cost in India in 2026?

An honest range, what changes the number, and where to spend versus skip — based on shipping eleven MVPs across SaaS, healthcare, ecommerce, and B2B.

The fastest way to get a useless answer is to ask “how much does an MVP cost?” The fastest way to get a useful one is to show someone three real MVPs and ask what they each cost. So let’s do that.

The honest range for India, 2026

For a real, production MVP built by a senior engineer — not an unpaid intern, not a five-person pod in a tier-2 city, not a template stitched together with low-code — the all-in cost in India today looks like this:

  • Landing page or marketing site: ₹15,000 to ₹50,000.
  • Web app MVP (5-10 screens, auth, DB, basic admin): ₹60,000 to ₹2,00,000.
  • Mobile app MVP (iOS or Android, published to the store): ₹80,000 to ₹2,50,000.
  • Web + mobile combined MVP with one backend: ₹2,00,000 to ₹4,50,000.

If someone quotes you ₹25,000 for an “Uber clone with payments and chat,” you are about to fund their learning experience. If someone quotes you ₹15 lakhs for the same scope, you’re paying for their office.

What actually moves the number

The line items that swing budgets the most, in our experience:

  • Number of user roles. Two roles (admin + customer) is ~1x. Three (add vendor or driver) is ~1.6x. Four roles is ~2.5x because of permission complexity.
  • Payments + payouts.Accepting payments adds ~₹15-25k. Paying others back out (marketplace, two-sided) adds ~₹40-60k because you’re building reconciliation.
  • Real-time features. Chat, notifications, live tracking — each is roughly ₹40-80k by itself.
  • Design intensity. A B2B internal tool needs usable, not beautiful. A consumer brand needs both. The latter is ~₹40k more.
  • Native vs cross-platform mobile. React Native covers 95% of MVPs at half the cost. Pure Swift / Kotlin builds mostly make sense after product-market fit.

Where to spend, where to skip

The cheapest MVP is the one that ships. Some buying advice we’ve internalized after eleven of them:

  • Spend on: a designer-engineer doing both, not two roles. Auth done right. Payment flow done right. One polished primary flow.
  • Skip on the MVP:a fancy admin panel (use a spreadsheet), email templates (transactional defaults work), analytics dashboards (Posthog free tier is enough), Kubernetes (you don’t need it), microservices (definitely not).

The cost no one quotes

The line items that bite founders post-launch and almost never appear in initial quotes:

  • Hosting + services: ₹500-3,000/month for the first year (Vercel free tier, Supabase free tier, Resend free tier all add up to ~zero until traffic).
  • Apple Developer Program: $99/year per company. Google Play: one-time $25.
  • Razorpay / Stripe fees:2% to 3% of revenue, which is your problem only once you’re making revenue.
  • Post-launch fixes: always more than zero. Budget ₹10-30k/month for the first three months.

The shortcut to a real number

The fastest path to an actual quote for your specific project is to describe it in two paragraphs and send it to two developers you trust. You’ll get two numbers within 48 hours. Pick the one that asked better questions.

If we can be one of them, our enquiry form is open — and we quote in fixed rupees, not in story points.
